Man Eats Shark

The other day, I ate a shark steak at a nearby beach restaurant, and commented: "Man Eats Shark." Somehow, it felt good that a dangerous predator had become the prey. And the shark tasted good.

This is the precise thought that came to mind today reading of the killing of 70 cops by Maoists. These cops were engaged in "Operation Green Hunt." The hunter got hunted.

The editorials I read today are all being "politically correct" - on the side of the regime - but methinks it is time this regime got real. On the ground, the cops possess zero goodwill, and are universally hated throughout the vast territory. I have only recently recounted the story of police predation in New Delhi. I think it is time the mainstream press factored in this widespread perception of the State Police when considering the proper response to Maoism.

My advice to the Morons-on-Top is: Get Real. You morons are busy talking about "food security" while your "security personnel" are insecure! Mint has a great editorial on food security today - and they are saying the idea sucks. It does.

It is time the Morons-on-Top start thinking of physical security - their own. I doubt whether Chidambaram, the Central State Police Minister, feels very "secure" when he visits the Maoist badlands. Yes, it is definitely high time that the regime got real.

As far as the Morons-on-the Bottom are concerned - the "security personnel" of the Total Chacha State - my advice to them is to seek alternative employment in The Market. They will be more secure then. They will no longer be "the hunted." They are but the dogs of war of the Total Chacha State and they should not get themselves killed for the errors of our socialist politicians. Maoism must be tackled politically. The socialists cannot do that. Indeed, even the IAS Academy teaches Maoism to its recruits. So quit. You would be better off selling peanuts or operating a chai-shop - and when you do so, fight the cops who extort haftha.

Let us now turn our attention to the Morons-in-the-Middle - the hired hands of the Total Chacha State who are "embedded" in the media: These morons must open their eyes. Their great idol - The State - is an abject failure at everything. It must be forced to "change its evil ways" - as the Santana classic goes. By mindlessly parroting whatever the regime wants you to say, you are doing yourself and the reading public a great disservice. You are disgracing yourselves, and you are acting against the true interests of the nation. So get real on the sham of "food security."

Food is quite secure here in Goa.

I just ate a shark!

  1. It is the dream of every leftist intellectual to build a society that is eternally at status quo. If the economy is a status quo, then politics too will be at status quo and the same group of petty dictators will keep enjoying power forever. But in real world status quo cannot exist. Things must either get better or worse. Society cannot remain at status quo. That is the natural law.

The upsurge in the maoist violence is an indication of the fact that the strategy of leftists to main status quo is backfiring badly. Things have started deteriorating in vast parts of the country. The deterioration in living conditions is throwing up new political forces, which are much more ruthless than the moderate leftists who rule from various capitals in the country.

Only way to beat the Maoists is by building a society in which condition of life improves constantly. That can only be achieved by a free-market system based of governance. This is a typical either-or situation. Either we improve our living conditions through free market based reform, or we fall into the nadir of Maoists violence.

Today these Maoists are taking out targets in rural countryside, tomorrow they might be emboldened enough to strike in the heart of the cities. Where will India with so-called 8% rate of growth go then? We might start resembling Sudan in more ways than one.

The upsurge in Maoist violence is also following on the lines of the most obvious historical trend. In the beginning of any leftist movements there comes the smooth talking leftist ideologue, and in the climax people get the stark and ruthless terrorist. The ideologue Lenin, paved way for mass murderer Stalin to acquire power. The same must be the case in India. The moderate leftists must one day yield to the ruthless Maoist leaders.

To beat the Maoists, Indians have to first of all defeat the moderate leftists who are in power. If we can’t defeat the moderate leftists, then how can we ever be able to defeat the more ruthless elements.

  2. @Anoop: Remember, the chief ideologue of the Nepal Maoists is a PhD from New Delhi's Jawaharlal Nehru University. JNU is also the biggest recruiting ground for IAS officers!

Thus, to beat the "moderate leftists" we must first do away with the "right to education." This is only the "right" of the leftists to educate us.

    Away with Chacha's education!

  3. @Sauvik, I agree, JNU needs a change in leadership. It is a Stalinist institute. The country can never be educated by passing of such meaningless rights like the so-called “Right for Education.”

But there is a big problem with our TV media. I have been trying to find out about the hapless jawans who died in yesterday’s Maoist violence. But all I can see on TV is the controversy over Sania-Sohaib marriage. Maybe, they should start a new channel, called Sania-Sohaib TV. Or they could call it Tennis/Cricket TV.

What is wrong with the guys who are running our TV channels? Are they not concerned about the poor people who are dying in the rural India? If an Indian had been slapped in Australia, the entire Indian TV would have been baying for Australian blood, but 75 Indians dead in a remote location does not make much news. This is disgusting.

No one wants to focus on the Maoist menace. The media is totally into dishing out Page 3 stuff, and the ruling elite in the country have nothing better to do other than announcing a new set of meaningless rights on a weekly basis.

  4. Why should we care about a bunch of Soldiers?

I think its better to focus on trivial personal issues than to focus on these 'Licensed killers'.
