It was extremely upsetting to find a small news item today that says Air India is seeking Rs. 20 billion (2000 crores or US$459 million) as aid from The State.
This should be strongly opposed.
This is the price we Indians pay for not subscribing the role of The State to its only legitimate and proper function: the administration of Justice.
To this we can add rural and urban roads.
Nothing more.
And certainly not education.
Note that the political debate never enters this territory. The politicians never discuss the great question: What is the role of The State in a free society? They are happy with their flexible ideology – because this enables them to interfere in anything and everything.
In my book, Air India and Indian Airlines should both be sold off immediately.
There is nothing further to discuss on the matter.

ReplyDeleteI do not see any reason why there should be any role of the state in the construction of roads, whether rural or urban. These much needed roads can easily be built by the private entrepreneurs.
Please do elaborate on that in your future posts.
