Sex Education? Or High Education?

Met a young lady the other night who said she offered courses in "sex education" in England - and confessed that it was the best job she ever had. I was a little high, and when I am like that I like to fool around. So I kidded her about the usefulness of her course. I said most Indians are illiterate and yet manage to reproduce without any education whatsoever. Basic instincts come into play here. And these instincts work.

On the other hand, I said, a kind of education I feel most Indians - especially the youth - need really bad is "high education": that is, on how to get high safely and healthily. An academy for the purpose would be really useful - and our youth could learn about highs like cannabis, alcohol, cocaine, magic mushrooms and all the various synthetics. They could then choose - and choose wisely. Today, they are totally ignorant - and many make big mistakes. Entire lives are ruined because of these mistakes.

Of course, our The State cannot be allowed to provide our youth with high education. Because of this The State, a completely safe and healthy high like ganja is outlawed, while  hard liquor has been given free rein. India is not a nation of beer and wine drinkers; she is a nation of hard drinkers. Further, there are so many extremely dangerous highs on offer - in the form of tablets and other chemicals.

Knowledge about getting high is a very important kind of knowledge - and this needs to be imparted to the youth, lest they learn all the wrong things from ignorants among their peers. I have met so many who have ruined themselves with bad stuff like smack. And alcohol. And tablets.

If such a course on high education is ever offered by people who really know about these things, it will surely become obvious to the youth that ganja-charas are the best. These are not physically addictive. These are the best highs of the morning - unlike alcohol.

Mr. Morrison might have woken up in the morning and got himself a beer.

But a wise student of the High Academy will surely wake up and reach for a spliff.

Democracy is a Means, Not an End

A major conference is on, titled "Making Democracy More Meaningful." I daresay, today, we read too much "meaning" in democracy; we attach too much meaning to the vote we are supposed to cast every 5 years. And if some chap wins that vote - then he'll be assumed to be possessed of magical powers; indeed, he is to even take over the instruction of our children.

We must not make democracy more meaningful. Quite the contrary. We must drastically reduce the meaning we attach to it. What we must secure are Liberty and Property - secure, that is, from any predation by anyone who wins the vote. This calls for a new constitutionalism.

In India, we make the colossal error of making democracy and the vote an "end." They are not. That can never be. Ours is a Naked Tyranny. This, while majority opinion subscribes to "public instruction" and willingly pays the "education tax."

What are "ends"? These are all different in each individual mind. And if Liberty and Property prevail, each Individual has high chances of attaining his own, subjective ends.

Liberty and Property come first - not Democracy.

"To each, his own," as they say.

Each man "minding his own business."

No politicians and bureaucrats aiming to mind the businesses of others.

In totalitarian India, the vote is a cruel joke. We are ranked "largely unfree" in the World Economic Freedom Index. The more we vote, the more the legislation they pour on us, taking away Liberty and Property. The open air bar outside has a "No Smoking" sign - because of recent legislation. The Englishman lamented that soon legislation will be passed by the House of Commons restricting the amont of wine a free-born Englishman can drink. Of course, smoking joints is against the law in England - though Rizla is headquartered in the UK!

Ganja-Charas: Tourists' Report

According to some European tourists I just met in Goa, the quality of ganja-charas available here is AWFUL!

This, of course, has been a constant complaint in my own case. As I tell all who care to listen, in the ganja-charas market in India, two guys get screwed: first, the farmer, who grows the stuff; and second, the consumer, for whose complete satisfaction the entire effort would be directed if it were a Free Market.

The Swiss couple told me they grow great hash in Switzerland now. I said let's import it, with a Swiss quality stamp on each biscuit. Quality is a must - for the consumer.

Anyway, I hope all those Goans involved in tourism realise this - that the tourist business will dry up if things continue the way they are. Already, more Indians go abroad for holidays than foreigners come in. India is actually a hard destination. Tourists suffer. Travel here is extreme suffering. And good times are usually banned. Only Goa gets tourists - because of the Liberty here. There must be more of this Liberty. Ganja-charas must be legal - and quality assured to the tourist. There should soon be more hash cafes in Goa than bars.

But I have been south too, in the hilly tracts around Mangalore, like Coorg and Chilmagalur, lecturing on, among other things, how tourists can be attracted there. At every gathering I said: First fix the transport links between Goa and Kerala and these areas. And second: legalise ganja-charas. This is how Amsterdam gets tourists.

Between the ganja-charas farmer and the final consumer sit all the Agents of The State - the beech ka bandar. They must be told to move out of the way. Let Liberty ring. Let there be Freedom. Let there be many Bhola companies floated on the stock markets. Let the farmers engage in contract farming for these companies, prodcuing high-quality cash crops using high technology. Let these farmers be rich. May they all own SUVs. And let the consumer be King. Let him get royally stoned - so he is happy, and returns for more.

What about the Narco Cops? I suggested they could be "gainfully employed" as salesmen for the Bhola Company. Of course, if they don't meet their daily sales targets of Bhola Spliffs, they're fired!

There is no Grey Area

In Economic Science, it is my firm belief, there is no "grey area" - some place between the Left and the Right, some "middle path" between rival party programmes.

Science is not politics.

And a scientist goes out looking for The Truth. No scientists ever sets off to discover a grey area.

Thus, in Economics, there is "right" - and there is "wrong."

There is Truth - and there are Lies, Damned lies, and, of course, Statistics.

One basic truth of Economics is that mathematical methods are inapplicable here. To study "human action" mathematically is as absurd as trying to study Law mathematically.

Economics is a "logical science."

So, while you study maths, stats, and other nonsense in your State-approved Economics course, remember these words of Mises:

Truth has its own way. It works and produces effects even if party programs and textbooks refuse to acknowledge it as truth.

The truth is that the "Indian Economics" textbooks are full of all the pious intentions of our Central Planners. The truth is also that all these plans have failed. The Market works. That is the truth.

What the Fuck is a Constitution?

Face it. Some 400 or 500 fallible people. divided by faction, uninspied by classical liberal ideals, met in a room in Nude Elly and ratified this Constitution of India long before I was born - further, that this has been amended some 100 times, and Property even deleted from it. The word "Socialist" was added to the Preamble, for example. If such fundamental changes to the Constitution could be made by Indira Gandhi, surely we can insist on the Inviolability of Private Property.

There are nations still inspired by the ideals of their "founding fathers" - like the Americans. In Olde England too, the unwritten constitution was highly regarded.

But in Socialist India, where the Representation of People Act bars non-socialist parties from the fray, I wouldn't worship at the altar of this Constitution, or this Democracy.

The Constitution of India establishes The State, its Personnel, its vast duties and responsibilities, and its unlimited Powers.

There is no mention of City Mayors in this extremely long document.

Whereas the original American constitution - and the Americans succeeded in finding Liberty, unlike the poor, eternally confused French - guaranteed Liberty, Property and the Pursuit of Happiness, the Constitution of India has nothing for the Individual.

No Property.

No Liberty.

And certainly no Pursuit of Happiness.

Fuck this Shit.

A liberal government is a contradictio in adjecto. Governments must be forced into adopting liberalism by the power of the unanimous opinion of the people; that they could voluntarily become liberal is not to be expected.

Galbraith, who  was Kennedy's ambassador the Nehru, famously described India as a "functioning anarchy." What a truly lovely country we must be.

I am now living in one such part of the vast sub-continent, in the Boom Shankar cafe alongside a cove in Goa, where even the Property is "illegal" because of Legislation from Nude Elly - the coastal zone regulation act purpotedly designed to protect the sand and prevent erosion of the rocks. And conserve mangroves, of course.

Across the cove, I see properties - but they look poor. Nature, on the other hand, has been bountiful in the doling out of beauty, for this is truly a beautiful spot, blessed.

I spent a holiday with myself, looking out across the gently lapping waters, coconut palms and small mountains, rocks, birds... some smoke, some mohitos... and thought... Why can't the properties of Man on this planet be as beautiful and grand as what Nature has created?

What sense does it make to unleash Nature and leash Man?

Think of the stunning cities the Muslims built in the desert - like Samarkand, which Babur conquered when only 13.

So I let out talk of another Act  for The Coastal Zone - called the Marine Drive Act.

Let's ask some "fundamental questions"?

What is Life without Property and Liberty? - neither of which are guaranteed in the Socialist, Secular Constitution of India.

And what can make a City beautiful?

Surely, it must be Private Magnificence - which is a "virtue."

A state might build some great buildings - but everything else much be achieved by Free Society. Through the Production of Wealth.

And there is only One Golden Rule under which this ceaseless Production of Wealth can be carried out:

The Inviolability of Private Property

And this Golden Rule is the Legal Basis of The Marine Drive Act.
