There is good news on the Rule of Law front, with the Maharashtra governor signing an ordinance that will make those who destroy public property pay. This is a direct response to Raj Thuggeray. There is also a jail term prescribed - and the powers are vested in the district collector. This is a good step.
However, Raj and his goons have done much worse than merely damage public property. One young lad has been killed. A murder case has been filed. Will the Rule of Law triumph here as well?
We wait and watch.
In the meantime read this spoof on Raj Thuggeray, written incidentally by a marathi manoos.
On a serious note, I liked Vipin Veetil's post calling for Unilateral Free Immigration. I'll endorse that, Vipin.
Bloggers conviniently forget to ask Bihar Governer to sign similar accord if they are trully unbiased. This shows how bloggers are biased. More property loss happened in Bihar than in Maharashtra. Still maharshtra govt. put the so called accord not bihar. That is why Maharashtra is ahead of bihar & biharies need to come to maharashtra not marathis need to go bihar.
ReplyDeleteAll territorial leadership is temporary: look at the USA now. West Bengal was a leader once - and look what the CPI(M) did to that leadership. Maharashtra will decline too - if things continue thus.
ReplyDeleteI agree that all over India there should be similar statutes protecting public property from damage by political parties and their goon squads.
But the critical Rule of Law question is centred around "individual rights" - as we have discussed earlier.
Also, do read Vipin's post on free immigration. Now that is something that will make the whole of India a world leader. Think about it!
the answer is silent revolution, that will happen anyway, violence or raj do not deter human endevour,
ReplyDeletethere are thousands being loaded on large boats and drums in trawlers going to far seas fetching livlihood, no passport no visa,
they have made the difference.
violence in maharashtra or in bihar, have other intrests, lets us recognise that, it has nothing absolute nothing to do with me trying to seek a livlehood anywhere in this country or any,
situation in bihar is worse than what raj can do to bihari's in maharashtra.
if he actually wants to them not to come, ask him to put nariman point on fire, burn the stock exchange and close the film industry.
we will in that case go to new york.
